When it comes to flooring in industrial facilities, we know that the conditions can be extremely harsh and that it will take a special breed of flooring to make the cut in these facilities. But, epoxy flooring has what it takes to make it in these facilities and they can even make the facility more efficient and safe, here’s why:
Epoxy flooring systems are some of the most durable flooring available on the market to this date. Epoxy flooring is able to handle forklift and other heavy vehicle traffic, it can handle the vibrations from heavy equipment and machinery and it can even protect the concrete slab from dropped objects in most cases. Epoxy flooring is able to this thanks to two benefactors.
For one, epoxy flooring for industrial facilities is produced using only the toughest materials possible, which is the 100 percent solid epoxy system that is made of a strong epoxy resin and a polyurethane hardener. The other reason why epoxy flooring is so rugged is that fact that it has formed a super tight bond with the concrete slab, so it will never waver. Epoxy flooring can make the concrete slab up to 300 percent stronger when it has been professionally installed as well.
Epoxy flooring is also resistant to the harsh chemicals that industrial facilities produce or use on a daily basis. This is thanks to the solid top coat of the epoxy flooring that won’t absorb any of the chemicals; or any moisture for that matter; and will leave the chemical isolated on the top layer. Did you know that concrete flooring such as polished concrete is not recommended for use in facilities that are exposed to harsh chemicals for the simple fact that the concrete will absorb the chemical and release it into the surrounding soil, causing major environmental damage? With epoxy flooring, you won’t have to worry about damaging the environment.
Another reason we believe that epoxy flooring is a perfect suitor for flooring in an industrial facility is the fact that epoxy flooring can be customized in a way that can make the facility safer and more efficient. For example, epoxy flooring can be textured for facilities that are exposed to spill hazards or constant moisture with two methods. Epoxy flooring can be flaked with paint chips that will add a gripping texture to the epoxy flooring. Another way this can be done is through an additive that is placed in the top coat of the epoxy flooring that resembles sand or salt that offers amazing traction for facilities that are exposed to moisture. Not only are epoxy floorings slip resistant, but they are also light reflective as well. What this means is that the epoxy flooring system can make the area it is placed in up to 300 percent brighter with only the main lighting source, no additional light. This is critical in industrial facilities as objects on the floor can cause a serious tripping hazard when they become unseen and with epoxy flooring, the chances of any tripping or slipping in the facility will be the bare minimum.
It’s hard to imagine how any industrial facility has ever operated without industrial epoxy flooring, good thing we won’t ever have to see how they managed ever again.
